FAQs
Reiki at La Rosa Blanca
Reiki is a deeply nurturing and restorative practice that invites balance, peace, and renewal on all levels, body, mind, and spirit. Whether you’re completely new to Reiki or have experienced it before, these frequently asked questions are here to help you understand what to expect and how this gentle energy work can support your personal healing journey.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, hands-on (or hands-off) energy healing practice that promotes deep relaxation and activates the body’s natural healing processes. It helps release stress, anxiety, and emotional or energetic blockages.
What happens during a session?
You’ll lie down (fully clothed) on a treatment table or rest comfortably for a distance session. I’ll guide you through a short grounding and then begin channeling Reiki energy. You may feel warmth, tingling, emotional shifts, or simply deep peace. Every session is unique.
Do I need to believe in Reiki for it to work?
Not at all. Reiki is not connected to any belief system or religion. Many people experience its benefits whether they come in open-minded or skeptical.
How does distance Reiki work?
Energy is not limited by space or time. In a distance session, Reiki is sent to you intentionally, often with the same effects as in-person work. You simply rest in a quiet space while the session is conducted.
How many sessions will I need?
Some people feel immediate shifts after one session, while others benefit from regular sessions over time. It depends on your goals and what you're working through. I’ll support you in finding what’s right for you.
Is Reiki a substitute for medical treatment?
No. Reiki is a complementary therapy, not a replacement for professional medical or psychological care. It works beautifully alongside conventional treatments to support your overall well-being.
What is the minimum age for Reiki?
Reiki sessions are available for clients aged 16 and over. For children under 16, a parent or guardian must provide written consent and be present during the session.
Can I receive Reiki during pregnancy?
Yes, Reiki is safe and gentle to receive during all stages of pregnancy. It can help promote relaxation, reduce stress, ease tension, and support emotional balance. Many expectant mothers find Reiki soothing as their bodies and energy adjust through each trimester.
During a session, you’ll be invited to lie or sit in a comfortable position, often on your side or supported by cushions, so you can fully relax.
As always, please let your practitioner know how far along you are and mention any medical conditions or concerns. Reiki is a complementary practice and is not a substitute for medical or midwifery care.
Can I receive Reiki if I have cancer or am in remission?
Yes, Reiki is gentle and non-invasive, and many people with cancer or in remission find it deeply supportive for relaxation, stress relief, emotional balance, and overall wellbeing.
However, Reiki is a complementary therapy, not a medical treatment. It does not replace medical care, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or other clinical treatments. Always consult your healthcare team before starting Reiki, especially if you are undergoing treatment or have specific medical concerns.
During a session, the practitioner can adjust positions and techniques to ensure comfort and safety, and sessions can be adapted for both in-person and distance Reiki.
